A love/hate relationship with change

The world, as I have known it, is full of constant change. Nothing ever remains the same and often times this can be a challenge. All the change creates uncertainty in our lives. We feel frazzled and dismantled amid the chaos of it all. There are times when we don't want the amazing moments of our life to end and our hearts are filled with anxiety because we know that change is just around the corner. In this moment, we are terrified of change. There are times when we're caught in our lowest of lows and we can only hope that this chapter of our life will soon pass. In these moments, we long for change.

This love/hate relationship with change is evidence of our ultimate need for contentment. Both the good and bad circumstances come and go and for the most part, we are left without control of how our external environment develops around us. We are just caught in the middle of it all. For me, living within the constant change has caused me to realize that most things are temporary and beyond this I have realized that the pain and the joy are equally important in the development of our ability to be content.

There is so much we can learn from our trials. There is so much that we can take from our pain. In that same breath, there is so much we can miss during the good times if we're caught up in the mindset of always wondering whats next. So embrace where you are today because whether its good or bad, its only temporary. We aren't promised tomorrow so be present today.
